Weekend Recap + Tri Tip Tuesday

What a fun holiday weekend!

I sadly didn’t spend any time at the pool or any BBQ’s this Labor Day Weekend, but still got in some amazing long bike rides, girls night watching Friends, lunch dates with friends, wine tasting birthday party with my love, DISNEYLAND and even a 6-mile run on Sunday!

I did have to work here and there, but loved every minute of this weekend!

It was so great seeing Meghann from Meals and Miles! We have been friends for over six years and haven’t seen each other in almost three years!!! I loved hanging out at the ‘Happiest Place on Earth’ with her this past Friday!!! I can’t wait to go visit Meghann in Florida one day. She was here doing the Dumbo Double Dare race… I so should have signed up for that!

This week I kicked off my Summer Shred – Fall Edition and the ladies are going strong! Their fridges are packed with clean eats and their butts are getting kicked!

This week marks WEEK 4 of my Irongirl Vegas Tri-Training! I have had a couple of set backs with the pool being closed and being on vacation, but feel stronger than ever!

This Week’s Tri-Tips:

This week’s tip is about BRICK workouts! I got my first one in last week. I rode 20 miles and then did a 2 mile run in the 100 degree heat! Ugh!!!

What is a BRICK workout?
A ‘brick’ in the triathlon world usually refers to a bike-run workout, but could also include a swim-bike workout. Brick workouts are important in triathlon since the sport is made of up of three consecutively ran legs — a swim, a bike and a run leg.

I would suggest doing whatever you can and not get too caught up on the speed of the workout. I plan on going out for one or two ‘brick’ workouts at my race pace, but I won’t stress over it. My recommendation is to include at least 1 bike-run ‘brick’ workout per week. I think that for an Olympic and Sprint Tri, doing a ‘brick’ is nice so that you can get comfortable with the transitions because your legs will feel kinda funny when you wobble off the bike… but they will still feel like that at the race.

On to Week 4!

      Thanks friend!

  5. I had a wonderful labor day weekend full of family and love. I haven’t seen my family in a while and they were here to spend time with me! It was awesome! No, I haven’t done an “official” brick workout but one time I did bike 5-6 miles to the gym got off ran for about 6 miles then biked back. Not an official brick workout, but I guess it is close!
