As you guys know Iรขโฌโขveรย been working with Propelรย on theirรย Add Flavor Challenge. For this monthรขโฌโขs challenge, Propel asked me to take a look at my personal hydration strategy to make sure that Iรขโฌโขm getting the most out of each of my workouts by staying properly hydrated.
Last week, I had a lovely phone conference with a few people at Propel, as well as Laura Daray, the scientist and รขโฌลresident hydration expertรขโฌย at the Gatorade Sports Science Institute. During the hour-long call, we discussed the importance of staying hydrated, and also had the chance to further analyze my own hydration and fueling habits. I still need to get her some information so I can find out my hydration deets (Hello busy MOM..eek).
A couple of notes that I took away from our chat:
*Hydration helps with oxygen to your brain and muscles.
*Hydrationรย helps to keep your body temperature regulated.
*Hydration helps with your body waste. (TMI?)
So what are some practical ways to check if you are properly hydrated or not? Well the easiest way to find out if you may be a bit dehydrated is from the color of your urine. (I know we are getting really personal today.) When checking out the color of your urine keep in mind thatรย light lemonade color is good while dark yellow like apple juice is BAD. If your urine is clear that is not good either as it means you are overhydrated. Interesting, right?
I also asked Laura about coffee, specifically if it was true that coffee can dehydrate. She shared a study with me that says that there is no evidence of dehydration with moderate daily coffee intake! Well that’s good! You can check out the study here.รย

I stay hydrated by placing into a container the amount of water I want to drink that day. I keep a bottle filled with me at all times.

I tote my water bottle with me everywhere, and I wear a camelbak when I run long distances.
I stay hydrated at work by keeping 2 reusable water bottles in the rotation, 1 is always filled and refrigerated so there is always a cold for me. I joined my office “water club” so I can access the delivered bottled water that is right behind
I pretty much only drink water so I always get plenty of water! I bring a reusable bottle with me pretty much everywhere! If I make it through the day without refilling it at work then I know I haven’t drunk enough water!
I have a huge water bottle that I fill up and keep in the fridge. I make it a point to make sure that I drink the entire bottle and refill it 4 times a day. I used to have a lot of trouble getting my water intake up, but this has helped me greatly!
I’m the same way, I find it hard to drink water during the day. I have to consciously make the effort each and every day. It definitely does not come easy. I find though that the more water I drink, the less often I get the munchies throughout the day (which is just a sign that I need more water anyway). It’s great that you’re keeping track and attempting the challenge. Good luck, esp as a busy mom!

I drink water throughout the day! Living on the Gulf Coast of TX the humidity is quite high and staying hydrated is a must. Even when I ride my bike trainer I have 2 water bottles – usually one will have a sports drink.
I drink lots and lots of water
I like to freeze my bottle to where I get pieces of ice in my water. The colder the better it taste, the more I drink!
I have an app on my phone to remind me to drink water.. the water alarm sound is really loud and it always seems to go off when im in a room full of people in its quiet!! ๐ but now a lot of my friends know about it and when they hear it go off they make me drink or will actually go get me water! Its awesome to have that support and accountability! ๐
I am totally going to tweet (@sunnyac) and instagram the challenge;)
I love to add Nuun to my water!
I love to add fruit to my water.
Lots of Propel ๐
I make sure, that no matter where I am, I have a water bottle with me or have one at the place I am going (ie work). Then I have no excuse not to drink water.

i use frozen fruit to hydrate
I’ve used propel for years! My climbing friends used to make fun of me because I would not drink water unless it had propel in it. I still use it a lot but have also been mixing it up with some crystal light too. Need a change every now and then.
I stay hydrated by always carrying water with me. My three young daughter saw me doing this and now they are in the habit ๐ Healthy mommy = healthily kiddos ๐

One way I stay hydrated is by having my favorite water bottle with me and also infusing water with citrus (lemons and oranges). I just have to remind myself to drink it – sometimes I set a timer on my iPhone.

I only drink water and a cup of coffee in the morning. I drink all day long. As soon as it’s empty it is filled up again. I try to stay hydrated because I am a runner and as I deal with allergies, the water helps me so much.
I stay hydrated by drinking water.. and adding flavor enhancers to it.
I tweeted about it!
I have to remind myself to drink more often because I tend to forget and go about my day.
I like to switch from water to juice. It keeps me hydrated because I get tired of plain water pretty quick!
With the scorching summer here in TX, we make some ice tea and lemonade that we keep in the fridge. Helps staying hydrated. Thank you.
Thanks for the chance to win!
Staying hydrated is crucial fr me since I work out everyday. So, I try to drink as much water before, during and after working out.
I carry water everywhere with me, and I sip on it often. It helps me to drink a lot of water throughout the day!
I find that keeping track of how many times I fill my water bottle throughout the day is definitely helpful and using the free water your body app on my phone is uber helpful when I am really busy or running around. Another tip is setting a timer on your phone or watch to go off every hour or two and drinking a glass of water if you have’t since the last timer went off.
I ALWAYS have a water bottle with me so it’s easy to drink water throughout the day. I also make sure to get a water cup with a straw because I have found I drink more water when I have a straw. Flavoring my water with lemon, fruit and mint also happens quite often ๐
I drink hot water with lemon first thing in the am and it makes me crave h2o all day

I aim for 90-100oz a day because I have a history of kidney stones. I found that the best way for me to get in the water I need is to drink from my Camelbak 33oz water bottle and also make goals for how much I need to drink throughout the day. For example, I tell myself that I need to drink one 33oz bottle before lunch, the second before dinner, and the last before bed. I really like using the Camelbak because I have noticed that the tip helps me consume more water per sip (not sure why, probably a mental thing). I am very much a texture person and have found that the Camelbak water bottle tips are the only ones that I enjoy.
Best tip: drink plenty BEFORE during and after a workout. It’s so hot here in the south I have to drink a ton before I even start or I won’t make it in the heat!
at work I time myself and know how many refills I should have in a day. allows me to get up and walk to the water cooler. at home i have to put lemon or some other fruit in it or I won’t touch it…… weird I know.
